Plumbing courses are becoming so popular all over the UK and it’s no wonder why this is happening. It’s simply amazing how the wag bill of a plumber is climbing so steeply in recent years just because of the simple fact that there have been less plumbers being trained and yet home owners still need to use the services of a plumber. Of course, what this means is that there is a shortage of plumbers and they can now practially charge what they like. Luckily the idea of becoming a plumber is becoming much more attractive for lots of people in UK cities because they can see how well paid it is. A big problem in the past has been that when left school they found it difficult to obtain an apprenticeship yet many tradesmen will leave everyear to retire. So plumbing is an excellent career choice if you ar searching for a job that is well paid yet there is also a high demand for your services.

Because of the shortage of plumbers in recent years, there are some really great courses available and this is making it much easier for people to train as plumber. It’s not just male school leavers that can apply for the course, you can be older too and you can also be females. Training can also be done at weekend and evenings for those who may have a day job. Training courses will cover all aspects of plumbing including the theory and also the practicalities. Lots of the courses will only last for about two months and then you will be able to get out and lean plumbing in the real world. This is really great because you can then actually start earning money as you learn the trade and this money could therefore help to start up your own plumbing firm.

When in the classroom you will find that many topics relating to plumbing is taught and it’s essential that all the basics are covered so that you can go into being a plumber with confidence and be able to use these new found skills. In world that now often sufferes from water shortages, it’s often considered to be an excellent idea to have your own water staorage tank.  There are so many reason you would want to do this.  For those who live in areas that are prone to forest fires such as California, Spain and the Australian outback, having a source of water comes in very useful when trying to put out the flames.  Sometimes there are places that deal with droughts and have water delivered to them by truck and so need somewhere to put all that water.  Some people have to pay for the water that they use and this can end up being quite costly so having a water tank that can hold rain water can really save you a lot of money.  Also, lost of people are worried about the environment so want to reduce water consumption from the mains water by storing rain water rather than letting it go to waste.  It is possible to spend money on a water well but quite often the water that is obtained isn’t really useable or isn’t in large enough quantities.

You’re reasons for buying a water storage tank might be quite different but whatever the reason you will still want to consider many different things.  When you compare all the different water storage tank options, you will find that they fall into these main categories; steel, concrete, wood, fibreglass and polyethylene.

You might not think that wood would actually be used for a water storage tank however they have been used successfully for many years, perhaps hundreds of years, to store beer and wine plus they’ve also been used instead of baths.  The good news is that wooden tanks are pretty long lasting and can even last for perhaps a hundred years as long as you look after it.  Just be careful with them because if you don’t have water in it the wood can shrink which means it won’t work properly for storing water.  You might choose to buy a wooden water storage tank because not only does it offer practical benefits but it also looks great too.  Although this is far from being the cheapest option.  They also don’t come complete, instead they are in bits and then need to be put together by someone who is trained to do this.

Steel water storage tanks are ideal if you want to store large quantities of water and the great thing about them is that they are incredibly strong and durable.  If you buy a steel water storage tank then you should know that they either come complete or they can come in a kit which then needs to be assembled.  There are different options available to you and there is also a good selection of coatings to choose form.  If you want a water storage tank that is at least 100,000 gallons then the steel variety is a very good choice.  However you need to understand that these are large items and need to be installed by those who are trained, this of course will add to the cost.

If you need to be very flexible about where you place your water storage tank then you might want to buy one made from fibreglass.  Fiberglass storage tanks can even be installed in the ground and you don’t have to worry about it rusting or rotting away as they are resistant to this happening.  They are also very strong in relation to their weight so you don’t have to worry about it not being durable enough.  It is a costly option though so you might want to look at alternatives before buying.

If you go for a concrete tank then this will last for about 30 to 50 years or longer if you’re lucky.  They are very strong and can either go underground or above ground.  You might like concrete tanks because of their looks but this might not be a concern to you.  They are imensly heavy though and large machinery will be required to put them into position.  Again, the costs are high and can cost several thousand dollars.

If you are on a strict budget then a polyethylene water storage tank will be the friendliest to your pocket but shouldn’t be bought if you need a storage tank to hold more than 50,000 gallons of water.  You can buy a plastic portable water tank which is very easy to carry about because they are lightweight but also very strong and durable.  Because of the way they are made there is no need to worry about them leaking and because of the shape you can roll them from place to place.  You also don’t need to consider anything about complicated foundations, all you need is to place them onto some sand or a pavement.  You will find that they come in dark green or black which is for a reason, this reason is to prevent the growth of algae.  They also are resistant to UV light and this help them last for about 15 years or so.

If you need a very large water storage tank you might find that you need some sort of permission so don’t go ahead with anything before you make some enquiries.  When you do need to buy one, make sure you read up in great detail about hot, cold, domestic, portable, garden, steel, concrete, plastic, overflow, sizes, styles and manufactures of water storage tanks.

Plumbing leaks any where in the home is a nuisance, one such problem can occur with your water spigots you keep outside can often be the root of the problems when it comes to a leaky home. It can leak normally if you’ve just turned on the water however there is not reason why they can’t also leak constantly.
